Chan gave the Legal Diva and I tickets to see The Color Purple last night for my birthday.

Those who know me know I hold musical theater in contempt (mostly). My thinking is that in combining drama with music, you get a weaker version of both.

Not in this case.

The cast was amazing, the songs were great (mostly), and the design was fantastic.

Go see it.
