NOT A CHANCE IN HELL

You won't ever see these guys in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The more I think about it, the more I don't give a damn. It's like the Grammys - I watch (sometimes) just to see how utterly rediculous the whole thing is.

These guys are my heroes. They got me through high school. Not a day goes by that I don't listen to at least one song by one of these bands, but that don't mean shit for the induction team at the Rock Hall. The countless bands inspired by these trailblazers of guitar rock add up to nothing in the eyes of the industry driven Hall of Lame.

This is not to say that the bands inducted thus far don't deserve their canonization. It's just a line is drawn, and that line is made of dollars.

Hard rock has always been eschewed by the mass media.

You never heard anything from this record on the radio.

Hard Rock is a 'live' thing. Yeah, we bought the records, hell yeah we did, but we bought 'em because of the vibe we got from seeing them live, or, with the hope that someday we might be able to see them live.

Do you think Lemmy cares about the Rock Hall? I don't. Lemmy IS rock and roll, he is the very living spirit of what it is all about, but you'll never see his visage in that museum in Cleveland. You probably will see some of his progeny though.

Nazareth? Forget about it.............oh, you already have.

Shame.

Maiden..........doubt it. Iron Maiden has as much of a chance in getting into the Rock Hall as 'The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner' has of getting played on WPLJ, which is to say; none.

Name ONE guitar player who hasn't spent a half hour working out the riff to 'Smoke on the Water' - this is mandatory guitar 101 stuff. They have been eligible for years.

It'll never happen.

Comments:
All good and not much to add other than that perhaps when they run out of people to nominate, which will be soon, they'll be forced to take a harder look. Perhaps Preist and Maiden might get a look. Your inclusion of Deep Purple is a great one. I know you're not a big fan of Blackmore, but know that these guys influence is huge.

Well, I do think Blackmore is over-rated, but I'm a huge fan of Deep Purple - hmmm, me smells a DP post coming on...
