CONSIDER THIS

I finally got around to seeing 'For Your Consideration'. I'm glad I didn't rush out to see it, as I might have been as disappointed as the people who had seen it that I had talked to. I had the benefit of those conversations going in. I knew Chris Guest had strayed a bit from the formula. I knew there were no fake interviews, gone was the mokumentary style, and in it's place was a - eeek - script. Certainly there are many great moments of improv in the movie, but is much more heavily scripted than the Guffman/Show/Wind Trilogy.

Knowing what I was in for helped me get over it and enjoy the fine performances.

The story isn't new, we've all seen the 'Hollywood destroys quaint little picture' movies, in fact Chris Guests directorial debut was such a film - 'The Big Picture'.

Hollywood doesn't like to look at itself in this way. Chris should have known that.

Good movie anyway.
