ON A DARK DESERT HIGHWAY

I'm sorry, but 'Hotel California' is a great record. It's irrefutable. Just a simple fact. Those who hate it can't be actually listening.

The title track aside, it's an incredible record.

Even the fact that the Joe Walsh tune, 'Pretty Maids All In A Row', is sub-par by Joe Walsh standards doesn't take away from the album's greatness. Besides, in retrospect it's obvious Joe was holding onto his choice tunes for his 'But Seriously Now Folks' record.

'The Last Resort' - mind blowing.

'New Kid In Town' - Just listen to the backing vocal arrangement. Glenn's a dick, but he's got skills.

'Life In the Fast Lane' - C'mon, you know you love it.

'Wasted Time' - Brilliant.

'Victim of Love' is ok, and 'Try and Love Again' is forgettable, but all in all, at the end of the day, the bottom line is; could you do better?

Comments:
Yes it is, it also came out at a great time in my life, it brings me back to 77/78 when I here it.
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
’relax,’ said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

It's a phenominal record worthy of all the accolades. I the one with In The City too. I thought that was a very good record.

It's worth the price of the CD just for "Wasted Love."

'The Long Run' is the record you are thinking of Tony. Certainly 'In the City' is one of Joe's best, but I'm not fond of much of the rest of it, too slick, dare I say commercial?

The Legal Diva and I are giving it a listen as I type. Don Henly - not a great drummer. By the time they made this one, they should have been farming that shit out.

This one's always in the CD player when we drive through the desert to Vegas. It's become a tradition.

The album has become even more poignant since I took up residence in LA. Every word on the album speaks volumes.

I get goose bumps everytime the final verse of "Last Resort" brings the song to climax. I share Jackson's disdain for Henley, but this song hits the mark.

Henley would rewrite this song at least a dozen more times during his solo career and call it different names. This is the original.

"They called it paradise
I don't know why
Call something paradise
Kiss it goodbye"

Shivers indedeed.

man its nice when you guys talked about music I dig..I love the Eagles...Take it Easy!!!
