MADDEN RETIRES, JACKSON SIGHS

With so few competent commentators broadcasting these days, it's with a sad heart that I wish John Madden a happy retirement. I'll miss his total lack of bullshit, his enthusiasm for a great tackle, and his deft hand at highlighting the subtleties of the battle at the line of scrimmage.

John, you gave great game, from the sidelines in Oakland to the various broadcasting booths in stadiums across the land. A true one of a kind, and a class act, you and your bus will be missed.

Maybe Al Davis will have a moment of clarity and offer John his old job back.

Wouldn't that be something?

Comments:
I will always remember John Madden bouncing, no leaping on the sidelines in his collared short-sleave shirt, tie whipping around in the wind as he somehow guided the Oakland Raiders from double-digit-deficit into last second victory. That was almost every Sunday back then. I was on the little league Oakland Raiders in '75 and remained a fan up to the early 90's.

Madden is God!
